Registration:

Q: What does it cost to register, and what am I obligated to?
A: There is no charge to register, and there is no obligation. Registration allows us to respond quickly to your inquiry, and expedites activation of your account should you decide to use Global Fax Network services. You may cancel at any time.

Q: What are my "User ID" and "Password" for?
A: This simply identifies you to Global Fax Network. Once your account is activated, your User ID and Password are used to send us your fax job.

Sending a Fax Job to Global Fax Network:

Q: Why do my fax documents and lists have to have a particular extension?
A: The extension tells the GFN systems what type of files you are sending, and allows these files to be verified and scanned for viruses. While Global Fax Network cannot accept files via our web site which do not have the correct extensions, we accept virtually every standard file type.

Q: Can I send multiple documents or lists for the same fax job?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I send multiple documents and lists for different fax jobs in the same submission?
A: No. Each fax job is separate, so you need to use the "Send GFN a Fax Job" for each separate fax job. This allows us to track your fax jobs effectively, and to send you accurate reports for each job.

Q: Is there a limit to how many document and list files I can submit for the same fax job?
A: No, though you may want to provide special instructions, such as the order in which you want your documents to be faxed.

Broadcast Fax:

Q: How long does it take to fax a page?
A: The industry standard is one minute per page. This can vary significantly, dependent upon the amount of graphics you do or do not have on the document. Generally, straight text documents take less than a minute, and documents with lots of logos or graphics take more than a minute.

Q: How can I tell how long my documents will take, and therefore how much my broadcast job will cost me?
A: We're happy to do a "transmission timing test" for you at no charge. You can send us your document and we'll send several test faxes, measuring the varying transmission times. We'll let you know what the average transmission time is, allowing you to budget the cost of your fax job.

Q: Is there a different rate for Standard (non merge) Broadcast Fax and Mail-Merge Broadcast Fax?
A: No. They are both at the same low rate.

Q: What types of files are needed for Mail Merge broadcasts?
A: While we accept most any file types for standard broadcasts, Mail-Merge broadcasts require that your document is a Microsoft Word file, and your list file is a Microsoft Excel file. (We can convert other list file types to Excel, or we'll happily instruct you on how to do it.)

Q: What type of report do I get after my broadcast fax job is complete?
A: You can receive either a "Detail" report showing all successes and failures, or a "Summary" report, showing just the fax failures. In either case, the fax failures include explanations as to why the faxes failed. This allows you to clean up your database, if desired.

Q: How do I get my report?
A: Your report is automatically faxed or emailed to you. Just let us know how you want to receive it.

Fax on Demand:

Q: What is the difference between "One Call" and "Two Call" fax on demand service?
A: "One Call" service requires that the caller dial from their fax machine. This allows (requires) them to retrieve your fax materials on the same call. Since Global Fax Network does not have to dial out to deliver the documents, it costs us less to provide the service, and we pass the savings on to you. "Two Call" service allows the caller to reach the service from any touch tone phone, and then asks them to enter the fax number to deliver the requested documents to. It is an easier service for callers to use, but it costs you a little more, since GFN has to dial out and deliver the documents.

Q: Do you charge extra if I want to use your PIN code, Credit card capture or Voice capture features?
A: No, those are all included in the service.

Q: Why do some fax on demand service providers only charge $50 or $100 a year for the service, but you charge a monthly minimum and per minute fee?
A: Companies which provide fax on demand at such a low price are not actually in the fax on demand business. They are in the business of capturing your customer's fax number (using Caller ID Capture), and selling these fax numbers to broadcast fax advertisers. Once your customer uses such a service, their fax number is sold over and over to hundreds of unsolicited fax advertisers, and they get hammered with unwanted faxes for years to come. Companies providing this kind of fax on demand service also do not provide special features. They require that you update your own documents, and generally do not provide any reporting information. Whatsoever.

Q: What kind of reporting do I get with your fax on demand service?
A: We can provide any of the following reports:

  • Detail log of all fax requests and transmission (including fax numbers to which your documents were sent when using two-call service)
  • PIN code use
  • Credit card use (secure transmission to you so you can bill your customer's cards to your merchant account)
  • Total minutes of fax time
  • Total pages sent

FaxMail, Fax-to-Email, Email-to-Fax (Desktop Faxing) and Mass Fax Receiving:

Q: If I receive a document in my GlobalFax mailbox, will I be nofified?
A: Yes, our systems can call you, page you, email you or send you a voice mail.

Q: Where can I retrieve my faxes?
A: At any fax machine or fax modem in the world.

Q: When I uses your Email-to-Fax service to send faxes, how do I do it?
A: You simply address an email to the faxnumber@gfnfax.com, i.e. 6194912905@gfnfax.com and attach the documents you want to fax. Our systems automatically convert your received attachments to fax format, and fax them to the fax number you specified in the email address.

Q: Can I forward my received faxes to a different fax number?
A: Yes. And, you can schedule your faxes to be automatically delivered to a "default" fax number as well.

Q: How many faxes can my fax mailbox hold.
A: An unlimited number.

Q: Can I direct my company 800 number to my fax mailbox?
A: Absolutely. We'll provide you with your personal GlobalFax number to direct your toll free number to.

Q: When using your fax-to-email service, what kind of files do I get in my email?
A: Whenever you receive a fax, it is sent to your email in one of a variety of standard image formats. All Mac, Windows (95, 98, 2000) and Windows NT systems will recognize your file and allow you to open it with the operating system's standard viewer.

Q: Some fax-to-email service send gratuitous advertising along with my fax document, usually included in the email itself. Does Global Fax Network do this?
A: Never. Your email only contains your fax image file and notification from us. Nothing else.

Q: I'm planning on sending a custom survey to about 500 of my clients. I need them to fax the completed surveys back, but I'm afraid they'll get busy signals if I have them fax back to my fax machine. Can Global Fax Network receive the documents for me?
A: Of course. Our mass fax receiving services allow you to direct fax traffic to our large servers, then to retrieve these faxes any time you want. Of course, the faxes can be delivered to your email if you prefer. No extra charge.
